Itinerary
Day: 1
Airport arrival, meet and road transfer to karibu heritage house in arusha for overnight
Upon arrival you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to the hotel. Arusha is the bustling safari town - a hub of arrival and departure activity as countless 4wd safari vehicles load up with luggage and set off with safari-goers into the endless, game-teeming plains of the mighty serengeti, lake manyara, tarangire national parks. Arusha is also an important regional business and administrative centre and host to an array of street markets, museums, and cultural centres, and craft shops.
Karibu heritage house nestles on the foothills of mount meru in arusha. It is well located away from the bustling town centre for convenient start of safaris to the northern circuit parks and transfers to/from kilimanjaro international airport. The comfortably appointed guest rooms offer beautiful views of the mount meru in a tranquil garden setting with fresh air. The hotel has the facilities to accommodate a wide range of travellers including safari goers and mountain climbers.
Day: 2
Sunday - lake manyara national park
After breakfast at the karibu heritage house, your driver guide will pick you and drive you from arusha to lake manyara np for morning and afternoon an unlimited game viewing drive with picnic lunch in between at a designated place. After exploring the wildlife, birdlife and landscape of the park, you will be driven to the bougainvillea safari lodge.
Exploring lake manyara national park presents the opportunity to sight the surprising habitat for lion prides, that are renowned for lounging on the trees and spotting potential prey on the grassy shores of the lake. On the dry land, large herds of buffalo, endangered african wild dog, cheetah, maasai giraffe and impala are common sightings and photographing. Birdwatching is superb around the park which has a myriad of shimmering flamingos and other species spotted around the soda lake. The bougainvillea safari lodge is located near manyara and it has 32 cottages, each spacious room has netted king-size or twin beds and a large veranda.
Day: 3
Monday – ngorongoro crater & serengeti
Breakfast at the lodge. Drive to ngorongoro crater for half day (5 hours) crater tour. Ngorongoro crater floor is a wildlife haven, with a large population of hyena, and lion prides. Cheetahs move in and out of the crater but sightings are very common on crater tours. Leopards are most frequently sighted in the spectacular lerai area mostly on tree branches.
Continue to serengeti np. Picnic lunch en route. Dinner and overnight at thorn tree camp. Depending on the time of the year and the rains it will determine where you will travel to for full day game viewing drive, to follow the wildebeests and zebras on their migration route.

Day: 4
Tuesday – serengeti national park
Enjoy a full day of unlimited game viewing drive in the serengeti national park. Stay at thorn tree camp which has 10 classic spacious safari tents with en-suite bathroom and an extended sitting veranda. Each tent has double, twin and triple beds, a wardrobe, writing desk, chairs and table plus free mineral drinking water and charging strip with universal plugs.
The legendary serengeti is the mecca of wildlife. The open plains of serengeti national park are the perfect playing ground for wildlife, and it is home to the fastest animals on the planet. Some are built for explosive sprints, others for marathon runs. But all of them, predators and prey, need to move fast to survive in this unforgiving environment. Enjoy action-packed game drives across the 150,000 square miles of woodlands, plains and open hills, on the wilderness of serengeti and the dispersal areas around.
Day: 5
Wednesday – karatu
Early morning game viewing. Breakfast at the camp. Drive to karatu with game viewing and picnic en route. Dinner and overnight at country lodge.
Country lodge has 11 cottages which are tastefully furnished with soft lighting, comfortable beds with nets and bedside tables and lamps. Enjoy the delicious a la carte cuisine served in the dining room, adjacent to the high ceiling bar and lounge area.
Day: 6
Thursday – tarangire national park
Breakfast at the country lodge. Road transfer to tarangire np. Enjoy morning and afternoon unlimited game viewing drives with lunch taken as picnic during the day at a designated place.
The delightful impression safari-goers get when they first arrive in tarangire is the ancient baobab trees that spread out on the grassland scenic plains. Game viewing drives take safari-goers to the heart of the action for watching and great photography opportunities. Tarangire hosts some of the rare endemic species such as the african wild dog, kudu, oryx and gerenuk, rarely found in the other parks on the northern circuit. Its remote wilderness area offers unmatched wildlife viewing; with large numbers of big cats and plains game viewing year-round.
Sangaiwe tented camp offers travellers luxurious tented accommodation, great service and exceptional food, using fresh locally available ingredients. Each tent has twin or double beds, a writing desk, ample space for luggage and indoor/outdoor seating.
Day: 7
Friday – tarangire national park
After a leisurely full breakfast at the sangaiwe camp you will be driven back to arusha with picnic lunch to be taken at an ideal setting.
Note: your safari ends there, but an add-on program could begin at this point suggested trip extension available on request.
