Day: 1
On arrival at jro
Ra safaris staff (please look for the board with your name on it), and transfer to naura springs hotel for dinner and overnight
Day: 2
Arusha – machame gate
Breakfast and thereafter kilimanjaro briefing, afterward you will be picked up and transfer to the kilimanjaro national park gate where you will register, commence the climb with your guide and porters. Your first day takes you through the rain forest to the machame camp located at an altitude of 9,350 feet (2850 meters). After resting you will enjoy a relaxing dinner.
Mount kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in africa and one of the highest volcanoes in the world. It rises to 15,000 feet above the surrounding plains and savannah. In climbing it you will pass from a tropical to an arctic climate in a few days. The surrounding rain forest ensures the fertility of the lush, lower-lying shamba (country), where the chagga people cultivate their coffee, maize and bananas.
Day: 3
Machame camp – shira 2 camp
After breakfast you will leave the glades of the rain forest and follow an ascending path for about 3 hours on the open moorlands to the shira camp located at an altitude of 12,500 feet (3800m). Enjoy views of the summit cone and the remains of the shira volcano and plateau.
Day: 4
Shira 2 – barranco camp
After leisurely breakfast at lava tower you get to the screen slope at the foot of the arrow glacier turn right and descend the barranco valley to the baranco camp for dinner and overnight. (13,044 feet (3,976m).
Day: 5
Baranco camp - karanga valley
Have a leisurely breakfast at barranco camp. The day is spent acclimatizing to altitude in preparation for the summit. Trek to karanga valley with picnic lunch en route. Dinner and overnight at karanga valley camp. (13,106 feet (3,995m).
Day: 6
Karanga camp
After breakfast at karanga valley camp, proceed ascending to barafu camp. Picnic lunch en route. Dinner and overnight at barafu camp. (15,331 feet (4673m).
Day: 7
Summit - stella point - uhuru peak and descent to millennium camp: (10 – 12 total hours walking):
After the breakfast start for trekking to the summit. On reaching the summit (uhuru peak) (5,895 m/19,340 ft) make photos and later descend down for dinner and overnight at millennium camp (3820 m/12530 ft).
Day: 8
Millennium camp – mweka gate – arusha:
Breakfast and continue your descend to mweka gate (1,500m) and collect your certificates for successful trek. You will then be transferred to arusha for dinner and overnight naura springs hotel.
Day: 9
Arusha – airport
Drive to the airport for onward flight.
