Itinerary
Day: 1
Arusha-marangu-mandara hut
Pick up from your hotel in arusha at 7.00am and drive to marangu gate. After the gate fee payment, you will start climbing to mandara hut with a picnic lunch. This is about a 5-6 hour slow walk away. "pole pole" with your professional mountain guide. Dinner and overnight are at mandara hut.
Day: 2
Mandara hut- horombo hut 3700mtm
After breakfast take your picnic lunch boxes, proceed climbing 6-7 hours to horombo hut. 3700mts. You will arrive at horombo hut mid-afternoon, where you can relax and enjoy the stunning scenery around the camp. Dinner and overnight are at horombo hut. 3700mts.
Day: 3
Aclimatization at horo hut
This acclimatization day is optional but please keep in mind that the marangu route has the lowest success rate. So you should add this optional one day stay at the horombo hut, exploring the surrounding, to increase your chances to reach uhuru peak. Dinner and overnight are at horombo hut.
Day: 4
Horombo to kibo hut
After breakfast continue climbing with your picnic lunch packets towards to kibo hut for a 6-7 hours walk. Altitude is 4700mts. Dinner and overnight are at kibo hut. You will make the final part of your journey in the night, so make sure to prepare all the necessary equipment before going to bed.
Day: 5
Kibo -uhuru peak-horombo hut
At midnight hour after light preparation, we start our final ascent to gilmans point which is 5635metres from the sea level. Then we will proceed to uhuru peak before we descend to kibo camp for hot lunch and then proceed to horombo hut for dinner and overnight stay. This is 10-12 hours walking which covers a distance of 7-8kms.
Day: 6
Horombo hut -marangu-arusha
After breakfast we descend to marangu gate via mandara hut for clearance and are given a certificate as a sign of conquering the highest peak of africa. Here you will find our vehicle and english speaking driver ready to drive you to your hotel in arusha.
