Day: 1
Tarangire national park
In the morning pick up from your hotel in arusha and drive to tarangire national park for game drives. The park runs along the line of the tarangire river and is mainly made up of low-lying hills on the great rift valley floor. Its natural vegetation mainly consists of acacia woodland and giant african baobab trees, with huge swamp areas in the south. Both the river and the swamps act like a magnet for wild animals, during tanzanias dry season. The tarangire national park is reputed to contain some of the largest elephant herds in africa, from june-october. The fierce sun sucks the moisture from the landscape, baking the earth a dusty red, the withered grass as brittle as straw. This african national park is also home to three rare species of animals the greater kudu, the fringed-eared oryx, as well as a few ashy starlings. After a picnic lunch we do an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at osupuko tented camp.
Day: 2
Lake manyara national park
In the early morning, we will continue our safari-journey to lake manyara national park. The park encompasses the northwest bank and part of the alkaline lake manyara which itself rests in the great rift valley. The park is perhaps best known for its flamingos, pelicans and cormorants but it is also the home for a few hundred other species of birds; it is therefore a paradise for ornithologists. Next to a great variety of birds, the "big game" can also be seen. With a bit of luck you might see elephants in the wooded regions and with even more fortune the tree-climbing lions. Indeed, it was thought for a long time that the lake manyara national park is the only place where lions can be found with this atypical behavior of climbing trees. Baboons and velvet monkeys are also found amongst the forested areas and in the more open spaces, giraffes nibble at the fresh leaves while the various types of antelopes common to the region browse for tasty shoots. After a picnic lunch, there will be more time for further game and wildlife watching before it is time to continue towards the accommodation in karatu, karatu simba lodge, for dinner and overnight.
Day: 3
Lake eyasi
After very early breakfast at the lodge in karatu departure time will be 5:00 am. The drive to lake eyasi is approximately 2 hours, and we will arrive in the village around 7 am. From here, we will encounter our local guide and join the hadzabe tribe for an early morning hunt with bow and arrow. The morning hunt usually last a few hours, where after we will join the datoga tribe and learn how to make jewelry. After lunch, there will be an afternoon game-drive at the lake eyasi itself, which is a seasonal salt lake. This lake is a birds-lovers paradise and is very different from the serengeti and ngorongoro with its almost tropical scenery. Depending on the season (and your luck) you might encounter flamingos here. After the game-drive, you till return back to karatu for dinner and overnight at the karatu simba lodge.
Day: 4
Serengeti national park
After breakfast we continue towards the serengeti national park. As the drive from karatu is lasting few hours, we will eat our lunch on the way to the park or just before entering. Once we have arrived, we will continue will afternoon game-drive. This park covers an area of 14,763sq km, and the name serengeti come from maasai language and means "endless plains". The serengeti is host to one of natures most magnificent phenomena, the great migration. Over a million wildebeests make a 600 mile pilgrimage though crocodile-infested water on the annual exodus north. Returning to the south to replenish the species in a brief population explosion that produces more than 8,000 calves daily before the pilgrimage begins again. Depending on the season and the location of the migratory animals, our game-drive will take us to various parts of the serengeti. After the game-drive and watching the beautiful sunset over the plains, we will continue to the serengeti osupuko tented camp, where you will overnight and enjoy your dinner.
Day: 5
