Itinerary
Day: 1
Arrival in uganda
Upon arrival at entebbe international airport, you will be met by our safari guide who will transfer you to kampala to a hotel booked for you. In case you have had an early flight to uganda, you will be taken on a brief tour of the city of kampala. Next day the lake mburo national park safari adventure will ensue.
Day: 2
Travel to lake mburo national park
After your breakfast by 7:00 am, our tour guide/driver will be at your hotel to brief you about the whole travel plan. Thereafter, you will embark on a 4 hours"" drive to lake mburo national park located in the west, 253 kms from kampala. There will be a stopover at the equator monument at kayabwe, along the kampala-masaka highway. You can always checkout the curio shops selling african ware, get informed about the monument, and thereafter proceed to lake mburo national park. Being in the west, it is the land of cattle keepers, therefore expect to see the famous long-horned ankole cattle and other livestock. You will then proceed to your accommodation, mihingo lodge (luxury), from where your lunch will be served. Following your afternoon relaxation/siesta, you will head out in the evening for horse riding, only offered at mihingo lodge. Expect to view the rarely sighted cape buffaloes, impalas, zebras and the rich birdlife in this open savanna. All this will last for 3 hours, after which you will retreat for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day: 3
Boat cruise and sport fishing
After an early morning breakfast, you will go for a boat cruise on lake mburo as your tour-guide on board takes you through the history of its existence. You will see plenty of aquatic life including hippos and crocodiles. You will also sight other wildlife as you draw near the famous lake mburo salt lick, and you will be amazed by the variety of animals on a salt licking fest. This will be alongside an alluring birdlife as well as fishermen drawing their nets in the middle of the lake anticipating a big catch. This whole cruise takes around 3 hours. Following this experience, you will head back to your accommodation for lunch, and later sport fishing, still in the same lake. The most common fish species caught is tilapia, but there are also others like cat fish, lung fish, tiger fish, angara fish and barbell. After this incredible expedition, you will return to your lodging for dinner and accommodation for the night.
